I work with fiber and organic matter to make sculptures. A precise combination of crocheted double and half double stitches force mounds to extrude from the consequent tension. This technique allows the hemispherical to be constructed in rows instead of unanimous rounds. The result is starched and dried over molds, fixing the fibers while retaining flexibility.

two sequences of eleven 1.25” and ten 1.5” hemispheres, 2025, 6.5x7x2.5”, 4150 sts, cotton, cornstarch, filled with glass gem corn kernels.

two sequences of eleven 0.75”, two 1.25”, two 1.75” and two 2” hemispheres, 2024, 2x10x2”, 2800 sts, cotton, cornstarch, dyed with lapsang souchong, filled with mung beans.

two sequences of thirteen 0.75” and two 1.5” hemispheres, 2024, 3x4x2”, 2304 sts, cotton, cornstarch, filled with acorns.

two sequences of eleven 1.25" hemispheres, 2023, 3x5.25x1.75”, 2880 sts, cotton, cornstarch, filled with jasper beads

two sequences of thirteen 1.25” hemispheres, 2024, 5x5x2”, 2496 sts, cotton, cornstarch, dyed with oolong, filled with kabocha squash seeds.
